CONCEPT

Spitfire introduces German street food with Turkish roots in a fast causal setting to our international city. Doner Kabab has been popularized throughout Europe, and has been the most popular hand held food in Germany since the 1980’s.
At Spitfire, you will experience authentic Doner with attention to detail. Health and quality are at the core of our focus, for a better product and experience. We offer hormone-free beef and antibiotic-free chicken, pork and beef. We source local produce when available. Our house made breads are made from organic flour. Our scratch made sauces are made from natural ingredients.

Our menu is purposely designed to provide you the freedom to decide exactly how you want your meal made. Start with one of our Signature Dish choices and add a protein, followed by toppings and finished with a sauce. We offer all of this in a warm comfortable setting with courteous staff so you can gather with your family and friends and share a great meal together.

THE HISTORY OF DÖNER KEBABS

It is considered that kebab comes from an ancient time when Nomadic tribesmen grilled meat on their swords. In travel diaries from the 18th century, Ottoman traveler Evliya Celebi mentions kebab as a horizontal stack of meat grilled vertically. The Doner Kebab, which simply means rotating meat, stands out as an innovation in the history of Turkish cuisine. The modern version was said to be the invention of Kidir Nurman, an immigrant from Turkey, in the 1970’s. During the economic boom, workers were looking for a fast hand held food while on the go. Mr. Nurman opened his first shop near the Zoologischer Garten train station in Berlin.
